What Makes Coconut Oil Good for French Bulldogs?
Is it safe? Is coconut oil good for french bulldogs? Yes, yes, yes! The high levels of saturated fats in Coconut Oil are actually what does the trick. This healthy fat can aid in weight loss, immune system, digestion, thyroid health, and more! But as with most things, it is best to keep in moderation. Be sure to start accordingly with 1/4 Teaspoon and work your way up.
Many Frenchie owners find that their dogs are able to achieve some benefits with coconut oil and the results are incredible! Here are some of the ways your Frenchie can benefit from coconut oil:
1. Immune System Boost
The lauric and caprylic acids in coconut oil are antiviral which can help your Frenchie fight sickness and keep the immune system in good condition. No one likes a sick dog!
2. Digest The Best
Coconut oil can help Frenchies absorb nutrients from other foods easier, which can be a great help in the digestive process. It can also be a help if your Frenchie suffers from colitis or irritable bowel syndrome, be sure to start with 1/4 Teaspoon first.
3. Fresh And Healthy Skin
Coconut oil can help eczema, dry skin, yeast and fungal infections, hot spots, crusty noses and stings. Apply to the affected area a few times a day for best results.
4. A Coat Worth Showing Off
Applying coconut oil to your Frenchie’s fur can help keep it sleek and glossy. You can also improve your frenchie’s coat if you add coconut oil to their diet.
5. A Little Bit Of Weight Loss
Adding coconut oil to your frenchie’s diet can help them lose a little of that extra pudge. Of course, this is most effective when paired with regular exercise!
6. Treating Small Wounds And Cuts
You can apply coconut oil to small wounds and cuts to help them heal. It acts as antiviral and anti-fungal, which means it is a good option for small wounds. To keep them from licking it and let the oil completely absorb you can put them in a doggie sweater or cover the wound for a while.
7. Keeping The Brain Young
As dogs age, their physical faculties aren’t the only things undergoing changes. Dogs will also lose the mental acuity of their youth; their mental faculties can diminish just as ours do. Just as coconut oil can slow dementia in humans, it can also help keep dogs bright and sharp in the head.
Is any coconut oil good for french bulldogs?
The only important thing to remember if you want to supplement coconut oil in your french bulldog’s diet or use it on their skin is this: make sure it’s 100% pure coconut oil. With the recent boom in interest over the past decade, coconut oil has found its way into many, many products. Some of which will not always be appropriate for your french bulldog. Only 100% coconut oil is good for french bulldogs; avoid products with additional ingredients unless they are known to be safe for frenchies and provide additional benefits.
Hi 👋 I have not long ago adopted a beautiful female frenchie called Narla 😍 she is white with black eyes, she is 2, when I adopted her a month ago she was severely underweight she had been locked outside in a garage and left to starve. She is now a very healthy weight and full of happiness and love again ❤️ She is very much apart of our family. Sorry to ramble I just love her so much… anyway I have noticed her scratching at her nose (wrinkles) a bit (I think it’s because she put some much needed weight on) she has a little sore dry area in her wrinkle under her eye…do you have anything to recommend me putting on it. I have used wrinkle rubs and doggy creams but nothing is working…any help would be much appreciated ❤️ Thank you Natalie xx
Hello!
How much coconut oil should I work up to? 25 and 30 lb Frenchies. Thank you
Pam
French bulldogs are the sweetest most lovable dogs available. They can melt your heart with those big loving eyes. They learn quickly and are always eager to please you, their best friend. Frenchies are an attractive and eye catching breed. Their bodies are small but muscular and heavy boned, giving them their characteristic appearance that is so desirable. They average 18 to 24 pounds, so are small enough to fit into most living situations. They love car rides, leash walks, and just spending time with you.
Thanks for speaking on this, I use coconut oil with a very small amount of essential oils for rashes, wounds, anxiety…it’s been my go to treatment to avoid too many very expensive visits. I’ve saved a tin of money because of it! Lisa
